In the view of the economist, you would think they couldn't care less about wildlife conservation, but in actuality some might support wildlife conservation for its profitability. As it turns out there are many ways money can be made from wildlife conservation, ways that benefit both people and wildlife. Eco-tourism is one of the biggest contributors of profit for some African countries. In South Africa, 90% of the 1,052,000 tourists registered in the country in 1995 traveled to visit the national parks and generated an economic flux of 13 million, and in Tanzania, wildlife tourism generates a global income of about US $570 million a year (The Value of Wildlife.) If money can be made without harming wildlife and natural resources, then there should be not excuse for the wildlife’s decline.
